BSP Workshop Analyses Brazil’s New Government

On 3rd February 2017, the Brazilian Studies Programme hosted a research  workshop on ‘Brazilian Democracy from Dilma to Temer’. The day began with a keynote address (pictured) on the recent presidential impeachment by Professor Aníbal Pérez-Liñán (University of Pittsburgh) with commentary from Professor Kathryn Hochstetler (LSE). Following two panels on politics and economics featuring 10 invited speakers, the day concluded with a closing address by Dr Nara Pavão (Federal University of Pernambuco) on the reasons why electoral accountability for corruption is elusive in Brazil.
