Prospective Students

Research Degrees: DPhil (PhD)

There is no specific doctoral programme in Brazilian Studies at Oxford. Students may study for a doctorate (D.Phil) with a Brazilian theme or focus in a range of subjects under the aegis of faculties and departments in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Life and Environmental Sciences, including modern history, politics, international relations, economics, sociology, anthropology and literature.

Masters Degrees in Latin American Studies

The Latin American Centre offers three separate masters programmes: the MSc in Latin American Studies, the MPhil in Latin American Studies, and the MSc in Public Policy in Latin America. Click here for more information.

Recognised Students

Students registered for a PhD at a university outside the UK and conducting postgraduate research on Brazil who want to do research in Oxford without registering for a degree of the University – (including Brazilian students with a bolsa sanduíche from CNPq, CAPES, FAPESP etc) – can apply for Recognised Student status with any department or faculty of the University. The Brazilian Studies Programme has limited desk space available for some doctoral students who are being supervised by the academic staff of the Programme or associated with the Programme.
