New article published on Parents' Migration and Children's Subjective Well-being and Health: Evidence from Rural China by Rachel Murphy, Minhui Zhou and Ran Tao

Rachel Murphy and her colleagues from Renmin University, Minhui Zhou and Ran Tao have just published an article on the implications of parents' rural-urban labour migration for the subjective wellbeing and health of the children 'left behind'.

Rhodes Professor of Race Relations

The University of Oxford seeks to appoint an outstanding candidate to the Rhodes Professorship in Race Relations. The appointment will be held in the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies at the African Studies Centre, in conjunction with a Governing Body Fellowship at St Antony’s College.

Associate Professorship in African Studies

Applications are invited for appointment to an Associate Professorship in African Studies, to be held in the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (SIAS), in association with a Non-Tutorial Fellowship at St Anne’s College, with effect from 1 September 2015. The post is full time and upon completion of a successful review, permanent.

Postdoctoral Research Officer in Middle East Studies (x2)

 Grade 7: £30,434-£37,394 per annum

The Middle East Studies Programme in the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies seeks applications from candidates in a social science discipline or modern history, with special reference to the Middle East, for two fixed term postdoctoral positions, funded by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation for 9 months commencing 1 January 2015. The School is looking for the best possible candidates working within the studies of the Middle East with particular reference to Turkey, Iran or Egypt.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible individual with excellent financial, communication and organisational skills, who would like the opportunity to work in this busy environment. You will be the first point of contact for all finance queries and your responsibilities will include the transactional work for purchase orders, receipting, invoicing and expenses, petty cash management and regular reporting activities. 

SIAS Vacancy: Grants and Projects Officer (maternity cover)

Grade 5: £23,352 to £27,854 per annum (with a discretionary range to £30,424)

We are looking to recruit a Grants and Projects Officer to cover a 12 month period of maternity leave commencing in January 2014. This key full-time post provides financial administrative support to academic staff applying for and working on research projects, and to administrators in the School.
