BSP and Rio Branco Roundtable: Brazil and Africa: Historical Legacies, Contemporary Engagement

On 18th February 2014, the Brazilian Studies Programme in conjunction with the Rio Branco Visiting Professorship of International Relations sponsored a roundtable on “Brazil and Africa: Historical Legacies, Contemporary Engagement.” Speakers debated the diplomatic, cultural and commercial ties between Brazil and sub-Saharan Africa, with special attention to the political outreach by the Lula and Dilma governments and the increasing presence of Brazilian direct investment in Africa.
